Concept of Organization
Meaning of Organization
An organization is a group of people who work together for a common goal. Everyone in the organization has a clear role and responsibility. They carry out their tasks in a planned and structured way.
It brings together important resources like people, money, machines, and materials. These resources are used efficiently to complete work in the best possible way.
Tasks are divided and given to the right people. Everyone works in a coordinated manner to achieve the goal. In simple words, an organization means people working together in a planned way to reach a goal.
Characteristics/ Features of an Organization
The main characteristics/ features of an organization are:
1. Collection of People
An organization is formed by a group of people. These people work together for a common purpose. They may include employees, customers, owners, or stakeholders.
2. Common Goal
Every organization works to achieve a specific goal. The goal may be profit, social service, growth, or innovation. All members focus on the same goal.
3. Division of Work
The total work is divided into smaller tasks. Each person or group gets a specific job. This helps complete the work faster and in an organized way.
4. Coordination
Coordination means working together smoothly. All departments must communicate and support each other. This helps achieve the goal without confusion.
5. Hierarchy of Authority
There are levels of power and responsibility in an organization. Top managers make big decisions. Middle and lower levels follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
6. Perpetual Existence
An organization should continue for a long time. It should not stop if some people leave. Long-term planning is only possible if the organization continues to exist.
7. External Environment
Organizations are affected by outside forces. These include the economy, laws, politics, and technology. The organization must adjust to survive and grow.
8. Technology Use
Modern organizations use technology for better work. It helps in communication, productivity, and innovation. Staying updated with technology is important for success.
